#Shorts: Neurophysiological Change

A melting pot of gummy bears.

You were not expecting that as an opening visual, I get that but hear me out. All the colors, all the noses, and all the weird ears & legs which you never understood how are cut to the exact dimensions thrown into a pot with lots of extra virgin olive oil and set to boil. Oh and add some salt because apparently it is forbidden to cook without it (insert eyeroll emoji).

Now this boiling pot starts to melt the faces et al of your gummy bears faster than you can say "Hey, I paid for those!" - and pay you did. It was just with your time and not money, and the gummy bears are actually a metaphor for your feelings, branched out over various limbs as per the situation demands.

Is a potion brewing? No clue, but if it were, it would not constitute what you know life to be as - because that would be too cliched and honestly, too small an umbrella to work under. Then again, what we might perceive as a ginormous umbrella may actually be a really cool dimensional protective barrier from all that weird and undefinable dark matter and speed of darkness theories.

Back to our pot - the faces are now indiscernible meaning the gummy is now runny, and from one very ambiguous point of view, also funny. Those usually are the emotions one exhibits and experiences when the pot of feelings is under fire - or as we like to call it "stress/anxiety/existential crisis/Trump or Modi being re-elected".

No matter what the final solution tastes like, it is strangely in either a color of flaming red (wherein the pot bursts) or pale white (where you've mixed your gummy bears so well they've fused into one blackish bear which is heavy and ends up falling through your esophagus and right through your gut to your intestines but never actually leaves your body).

And as you now consume the concoction of delayed or not-delayed-enough reactions, you wonder whose idea it was to seethe the gummy bear mix anyway. You look under the pot and sigh -

You didn't start the fire, it was always burning.
