SOL (Scream out Loud)
In the essence of every June every year, the time of blistering heat and cooling AC's is ongoing. The threshold of our rooms, let alone our houses, have become the boundaries of our locomotion during the holidays. Colleges & schools are taking a break, and so are its inhabitants. Agreed, many are going for various internships and staring new "projects", but ask anyone, they'd rather do it all at home.
Summers are generally the time when major decisions are made. All those futuristic ideas we have are discussed. Be it with family, friends, boy/girl-friend(s), or even Yourself. In this time of supreme heat, not a lot of people like having a sweaty, drenched phone sticking to their ears. And then, meeting someone outside would mean putting on a set of clothes that would become heavyweights as soon as you begin your conversation with the Sun. After all, you can't wear ClimaCool ALL the time, now, can you?
As these discussions are more or less cut-off by the raising Celsius, we tend to switch to the most comfortable alternative. The Internet. Sitting infornt of our respective PC's and/or Laptops, we have the most serious-or even the most lame-conversations online. We look to our friends' wall's for clues and even put in a huge message inside their inbox, explaining how we cant explain what's going on inside our heads.
And this, in my opinion, is what robs us of the most basic way of venting the one emotion, most of us keep pushing back inside; Frustration.
Now, come on, you can't tell me that in the temperatures touching 45O Celsius, you haven't, not even once, felt the urge to shout out. Or when you've just returned home from your early morning work, and all you want is to relax on your bed as you watch Modern Family with your AC on, and that's the moment the Light's are out. Not even a drop of annoyance? If your answer is No, well, you should start telling people how you do that and we might prevent loads of heart attacks.
Obviously, that isn't really the kind of disappointment I was talking about. I was actually referring to that phase with most people, where they donot know what their next move will be. When they are not sure as to what they are supposed to be prepared for now. Agreed, many of prefer to "live in the moment", but even they would be thwarted if the moment started becoming monotonous.
What to do then? Certainly the most basic answer is to follow your instincts and stuff. But that's really one of the most "basic" sources of frustration, since it very conveniently goes by that none of really know what our own "instincts" want.
In that case, I think there's one activity we can all do that remains a common problem none of us like to encounter. And true, in such weather conditions, not a lot of us would like to leave our comfort zone, but believe me, that's exactly what I'm getting at.
Facing our Fears. There's a huge need to make this one of our favourite activities. Why? I think the answer is so freakishly obvious, I'm not even gonna bother answering it.
The more you do it, the lighter you will feel. The lighter you feel, the better you will think. The better you think, the more awesome you do. And after that, the world is yours for the taking.
I say it from experience, not just philosophically. I have done a lot of things that just before doing I thought would be the biggest mistake of my life. And as soon as I did make that "mistake", the feeling that I experienced was absolute calmness. You'll see. And for sure, you'll experience it.
So, trust me, and stop LOL-ing, and start SOL-ing.

ReplyDeleteAnd I was referring to that as a general feeling we all experience. The denial that we probably shouldn't go ahead with it.
