An Ideal Story. (not)

I wanted to write for a long time now, but as my finals dangled over my head, it wasn't to happen. Its not as if i had a lot to write though; its just that, i frankly don't know what i want to write majorly. 'Coz frankly, who am i to give anyone any advice on how to live their life? For passing on some "wisdom" i need to have any that's useful. Well, that's the general idea.

And that's where the natural question pours in:Which General Idea am I talking about? I refer to the idea that flows in the mind of every person around me in my current surrounding. The fool-proof plan. The no bumps route. The most-used objective. The tried and tested. The no-risk path. The set-up.
Close-Minded.

Narrow.

Limited.

Average.

AVERAGE.
It's not a way to say you're doing the right thing. Its saying :You're NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Or simply, you're in the same mould as the 1 billion around you, so why try to be different? If they're happy and well in what they have, why do you wish to pursue more?
Logical Enough? Yes.
Safer? Yes.
Real? Yes.
Possible? Yes.
Cowardly? YES.

The most used excuse in the world is that it was not possible. It cannot be done. It is one of the few things that "just don't happen".
One question: Do you know who defined impossible? The same guy, who, after seeing countless and nameless men fail at a certain task, decided to stand up and claim that he was wise enough not to repeat their mistake.
Smart? Yup.
Reasonable? Yup.
Over-smart? Oh Yeah.
Save-Face? Oh Yeah.
His Name: The First Wise Man. The First Limit Setter. The First Coward.

His idea was not one to harm mankind. It was more of a "noble act". He, in his own words, "wanted to prevent the point of no return for man"; For it is better to "live peacefully with security" than "rot in dreams that may kill one from inside". Wow. What a Visionary.

So, here I am, his most-unfortunate descendant. Ready to do what he wanted to avoid. Ready to accept failure. To my face. Ready to take my problems head-on. Ready to bring about a change. By Being the change & Not JUST A PART OF IT.

Tell me, oh reader, where would you be if, say, Bill Gates decided its better to learn Maths than actually pursue something he had a passion for, as computers weren't the "right way" at that time?

I can go on using cliched examples, but i think you've heard them before. So here's the point:

What is the use of raising up a child telling him stories of such people when in the end, he's not going to be allowed to follow in their footsteps?

What is the point of looking up to the sky if you never want to find out what lies beyond?

What is the point of having a dream if you're not going to do anything about it?

Why do you have a passion if you don't want to make it your life?

Do you have PROBLEM with being HAPPY?
Do you LIKE being AVERAGE? REGULAR? Like you're "SUPPOSED TO BE"?
Is it a big deal if You can, for once, LOVE what you DO?

OR is it because you're TOO SCARED of GETTING HURT?
Of LOSS?
Of FAILURE?

OR perhaps as it HASN'T BEEN DONE BEFORE?

'Coz, if that's your excuse my friend, then you probably already are a Failure. A Loser. The perfect Descendant. An even BIGGER COWARD.
The Choice is Yours.

And that, reader, is the not-so general idea.

  1. So, I just read this again, and it made a deeper impact this time around.
Very well written. Although this debate is never ending.

    1. Thankyou :)
And that's sort of the point. To many, there may not be a debate after this. ;)
