Random Thought Process
Why is it so tough to write a college common application essay? The answer to this question is not an easy one. The topics for instance are not exactly the first things on your mind. Not everyone is influenced by his or her current surroundings & frankly, even if they are, nobody likes to admit it. Therefore, the influence options see themselves out of the window. About the diversity one, seriously, nobody really gives a damn. Not even the universities. So why bother asking the students? [Prospective or otherwise]
Conversely, this question has a very simple answer. These universities are looking for the edge. They want to get the students who can take a blank piece of paper and conduct electricity out of it. Not possible? Precisely what they want. The demands of magic men and people who can produce influential moments are no longer limited to football clubs. Everyone is looking for that gold needle in that huge mountain of golden hay.
So what has truly influenced me? Not a lot of things. I mean, for one, when I watch Arsenal of the old, it sets me going, yes, but otherwise it is mostly when I see how people rise above their difficulties in life; that is what actually gets me thinking. One might say I feed off people’s misery, but that is not really how it works. I like to connect with their sufferings in a way that teach me what the wrong step was. Further, the rebuilding process is, in my opinion, one of the best things that can happen. It is essentially the archetypal of a blessing in disguise. When you fall, it is actually an opportunity to show the world your knowledge of getting up. For the society has a very short-term memory. They need reminders that you can take care of yourself. That you remember your first time you started walking; for you did not know how to stand on your feet before that.
However, that is not a widely accepted view. Many would argue that a winning mentality beats every other. And the fact that when one is on a high, it is better than coming back from a low, hands down; that a steady ship will always be preferred over a repaired titanic.
But that, again, is not a widely accepted view. The Titanic, for instance, was the most anticipated ship of its time. I’m sure, had it been found and repaired, it would be welcomed back with open arms. After all, the 60000 present at the Emirates Stadium on the night that Thierry Henry made his goal-scoring “dream” return, would tell you what I mean.
